An introduction to Acirfa

Doors have opened for Acirfa to join forces with national and local leaders in Africa. Fuel shortages make bicycles indispensable for travel in cities and in the bush. Bikes can be the difference between making it and missing it; between uncertainty and hope. It's time for the people of Africa to get a bike that works as hard as they do.

When is a bike not a bike? When it's a catalyst of change. Bikes can set people free from dependency on foreign aid and out of endemic poverty. Bicycles release individuals to fulfill their potential, overcoming not just physical need but the very mind-set of poverty. They allow people in developing nations to go farther, travel faster and carry more than they ever could on foot. In the future, sustainability will truly turn Africa around, one bike at a time.

The day the container arrives, all the hard work and logistical hoops we jumped through are forgotten as the team begins to assemble bikes that will change lives forever. This video gives you a glimpse of our mechanics at work, as well as some of the other groups we partner with, like Child First. It's amazing how something as simple as a bike can radically change lives in Africa for the better.
